District Heating
and District Cooling

Proco Services is engaged by companies and municipalities throughout the Nordic region to eliminate operational disruptions during expansion and repair work on district heating systems and networks. Every year, we perform hundreds of hot tapping and blocking operations for district heating and district cooling producers.

Through our unique technology, the district heating system can continue to operate while the necessary work is being carried out. This ensures deliveries to residential areas as well as more sensitive operations such as hospitals and industrial facilities.

Our working method also minimizes environmentally harmful emissions during maintenance or expansion of district heating and district cooling systems.

Maintenance of District Heating Network in Upplands Väsby
Prior to maintenance of the district heating network in Upplands Väsby, the municipality’s stormwater policy required that no contamination of stormwater could occur. Using our blocking technology, the maintenance could be carried out without negative environmental impact.

Upplands Väsby municipality in northern Stockholm is environmentally certified according to ISO 14001 and continuously works toward a better environment. When six older valves were to be replaced in the municipality’s district heating network, the maintenance needed to be performed without discharge of contaminants into the stormwater.

In order for the maintenance work to be carried out in accordance with the municipality’s environmental requirements, i.e., without draining and discharge of contaminated water, Proco Services was engaged to assist Stockholm Exergi.

Thanks to thorough planning, our technicians were able to establish four simultaneous blocking operations for the replacement of four valves. Subsequently, two additional blocking operations could be performed at two of the previous intervention points, but in the opposite direction. This meant that the remaining valves could be replaced without impact on the nearby residential area.
