Our tools and connections can be easily adapted for various pipe materials. For confined spaces or special conditions, such as blocking the flow in a pipe bend, we have specialized tools.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Valve replacement at SSAB’s steelworks in Oxel\u00f6sund<\/strong>At SSAB’s steelworks in Oxel\u00f6sund, there are two of Sweden’s three blast furnaces, which together can produce more than 5,000 tons of crude iron per day. Thanks to our blocking services, damaged valves could be replaced safely and without production interruptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the blast furnaces, raw gas is formed, which is then purified into coke oven gas and reused as fuel in the coking plant. We were commissioned to participate in the work of replacing damaged valves on one of the outgoing raw gas pipelines, without stopping the blast furnaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For this work, our engineers developed a new blocking tool based on SSAB’s environment and requirements, including an operating temperature of 200 \u00b0C. Our technicians carried out several drillings for connecting the bypass line. Thereafter, double blockages were connected to stop the flow of raw gas in the main pipeline, while ensuring the supply of gas in the system with the help of the bypass switch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The damaged valves could then be replaced safely, and the flow restored, without disruptions to steel production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
